Hey, bro, sorry to hear about your painful break-up. My three year marriage started to end about 4 years ago, and was finally done in court about a year ago. I have a daughter that was stuck in the middle of it.
I can also relate to your struggle you mentioned in another post. In fact, I found you by looking for other people that had "healing the masculine soul" as a favorite book. You've got some others in there that I really enjoyed, as well...i.e. "The Screwtape Letters" I think you had in there.
Well, Merry Christmas, and I hope things are going well for you now during this season.
Thanks so much for your response. I have obviously been absent from Blogger for some time now. It's very encouraging to know other people can relate (obviously wish neither of us had to) to these most recent experiences in my life. I really appreciate you taking the time to write and welcome your comments/feedback whenever you feel the need. My Men's Group read ...Masculine Soul last year and unpacked it for spiritual guidance... choice stuff! We finished "Velvet Elvis" by local favorite Rob Bell in December as well. A quick read that I definitely recommend. Our focus has now shifted back to Don Miller and "Blue Like Jazz." Chapter six picks back up next Thursday night.
I know He has better plans for both of us and it is in His promises that I face my future.
Rob Bell is amazing...have you seen his Rain video? If not, this is a great time for you to watch it, with the storms in your life raging all around. I also have Dust, and just got Flame at Christmas. He's powerful...amazingly well educated for a young pastor...and he's very relevant, which is important.
I can really relate to where you are. It sounds like she just left late last year? My ex left me about 4 years ago now, and for the first few months it was sheer agony, seeing the places we went, hearing her with another man in the background, smelling her in the sheets and pillows, seeing pictures, seeing her with this other man when we exchanged my daughter. It HURT like nothing I've ever felt before.
But, now, years later, I'm doing quite well...not quite back to where I thought I would be at this time, but God has really taught me a lot in the valley, and he wants me to take it up to the mountain with me...and then back down again. Check out Steven Curtis Chapman, "The Mountain", on Heaven in the Real World, you'll know what I mean.
if you've found this little corner of the web, feel free to have a look around and make yourself at home. should anything compel you to reach out, please do. all content is directly related to true life experiences and stories, and as such is completely honest.
