coming around...
so slow progress is being made and that's always a good thing... i managed to find time to get over to calvin college last month and listen to don miller speak... an interesting experience to say the least. don is very eccentric and actually speaks as he writes, what a novel idea. he of course indirectly shaped his talk around material available in his texts but his spontaneous remarks were certainly the highlight. for instance, he was rather impressed by the lighting in the venue and how "star-like" it was. this made for some priceless comments and incited some great audience response.
i'm now reading (or trying since my attention is always at combat) miller's very first book, the re-issued version since i didn't catch on during it's original print. it's more of what you would expect from miller but it's definitely got more of a non-polished feel to it, which i really gravitate to.
the rest of my life has been rather status quo lately. the wings made another early exit from the playoffs so that remains a mystery... again and again.
the griffins have faired much better and are currently tied with manitoba at two games a piece in the second round.
i couldn't afford to purchase AHL playoff tickets this year so most of my experience with those games has been from the radio.
BJ continues to grow into his personality on a daily basis. he's walking circles around everything now and will be literally running any day now. the weather has been overcast the entire week so we'll most likely head out to the skate park and watch the locals, or maybe skip on over to my friend rod's place so he and his wife can meet BJ for the first time.
this should come as no surprise to anyone but i've been heavily invested in music (not financially, unfortunately), more so these past few weeks than recent times. i've come across some real finds that i wanted to share with you but keep it on a downlow so they don't accidentally blow up and become household names. well, i suppose that wouldn't be such a bad things for the artists but there sure is something to be said about tuning into some of the best kept secrets.
here are what i would call my latest excursions in digital media:
bernard - a view beyond the cave
until june - the EP
flyuprightkite - every breathing moment
some other discs i've been spinning recently from already established artists include:
waking ashland - telescopes
hall and oates - greatest hits
glen phillips - mr lemons
until my next inconsistent offerings...
