interesting state of affairs...

...roads are closed all over town today, to make a secure and efficient travel path for the late president ford's motorcade. i remember reagan's passing being quite significant but it definitely puts a different spin on things when you're in the same town as the memorial.
i'm at work but a lot of business have closed out of respect. i know bush made the announcement that all federal offices could close if they so desire but the business district of grand rapids is a ghost town today so apparently many people chose to follow suit.

2007 is here and thus far it's felt mostly indifferent. i ended up spending the evening at the hockey game and then meeting DC and Em (along with a few other friends) at their place for a few drinks.
BJ and i spent a great deal of time playing together yesterday. that's always a great way to open another year. i imagine it won't be long before we'll have that same opportunity more often.

joney... if you're reading this... i received your message late last night and just left you a follow up to touch base. hope we catch up real soon... i miss you!

i suppose i better get back to work but before i do... it's been awhile since i've made a music recommendation.

if you're in the mood for some arrogant british rock, check out the arctic monkeys.
if you would prefer something with a little more pop, check out the latest from under the influence of giants.
